2D Artist for Pixel Art (w,m,d)
- Design, implement, and maintain game environments in a highly detailed pixel art style.
and/or - Design and animate game characters in a highly detailed pixel art style.
- Adapt your art style to the art direction of the project.
- Provide constructive feedback for features, environments, and processes.
- Evaluate and implement feedback from all relevant sources.
- Foster a highly positive team culture to ensure content meets established goals.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Skills & Requirements
- Strong traditional drawing/painting skills.
- Ability to paint highly detailed 2D images in pixel art techniques.
- Strong knowledge of pixel art limitations, techniques and historical background.
- Ability to use advanced pixel art techniques like anti-aliasing by hand, animating with subpixel movement, etc.
- A working knowledge of standard industry game engines, design toolsets, and production pipelines.
- Willingness to be open and flexible when collaborating with others to achieve a design.
- Strong composition, narrative, and environmental storytelling skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and influencing skills.
- Strong Photoshop skills.
- A passion for retro and pixel art titles preferred.
- You are proficient in English or German
- As a part of the Pixelpogo application process, candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio or demo reel of their work.

- Experience with GameMaker Studio and GML
and/or - Experience with another game engine (Unity, Unreal, Godot)
and one or more programming languages (C++, C#, Java)
- Optional: PHP and SQL Skills
- A working knowledge of standard industry game engines, design toolsets, and production pipelines.
- Willingness to be open and flexible when collaborating with others to achieve a common goal.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team working skills.
- A passion for retro and pixel art titles preferred.
- You are proficient in English or German
